Buying a Diamond - The 4 Cs
Here are the 4Cs of a diamond's value that will help guide you in your selection:
1. Cut: Cut defines the reflective quality of a diamond; the better a diamond is cut, the more brilliant the diamond will be. The sparkle of a diamonds is what makes it so special.
At Simons, we only carry Excellent, Very Good and Good cuts.
2. Color: The color of a diamond never changes. "Color" refers to the presence or absence of color.
3. Clarity: The clarity of a diamond is based upon the number, type and location of any imperfections.
4. Carat Weight: Diamonds and other gemstones are weighed in metric carats. Just as a dollar is divided into 100 pennies, a carat is divided into 100 points. It is important to note that diamonds of equal weight can have very different values based upon the other 4Cs: clarity, color and cut.
Whether it's a loose diamond, a mounted stone or a diamond wedding band, Simons Jewelers' knowledgable staff can help you select the perfect diamond for your engagement, anniversary or other special occasion.
